When a parent's criticism still sounds loud in adulthood. This is the kind of moment that can expose what has really been running underneath. You cannot carry every variable connected to this moment. What remains yours is what you agree with and what you bring honestly to Jesus Christ. Family history explains some of what shaped you, but it does not own your future. Christ can establish truth where history established reflex. Let obedience be specific and limited to what is yours to do. Then release the part that belongs to God.

Where is habit trying to speak before wisdom does? What would obedience to Jesus Christ look like instead?

Jesus Christ, I come to You without pretending I understand all of this. Guard me from reacting out of fear or wounded pride; lead me in Your truth. Amen.
