When a smell brings the whole memory back
Christ's grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:9
When a smell brings the whole memory back. There is usually more happening here than the obvious problem. Reality can be accepted without becoming your identity. Let truth describe the circumstance without allowing it to define your worth. Naming the hurt honestly is not the same as living under it forever. Let Christ heal what happened without allowing it to become your name. The honest version belongs in prayer. He is not surprised by what the polished version leaves out.
What interpretation are you carrying that goes beyond what actually happened? What part of that story needs to be surrendered to truth?
Jesus, interrupt the automatic response in me that does not agree with Your truth. Help me recognize truth quickly and act on it faithfully. Amen.
