When church people disappoint you

When church people disappoint you. This is the kind of moment that can expose what has really been running underneath. The part you cannot control may be the part making the most noise. Stay responsible for your response without pretending you are responsible for everything. Faith is not a performance review of how consistent your feelings have been. Trust Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, when your feelings are inconsistent. Handle the part Jesus Christ has placed in your hands. Faithfulness has a boundary; let God remain God beyond it.

Lord Jesus, separate the facts of this situation from the fearful meaning I have attached to them. Help me respond to what is true and leave the ending in Your hands. Amen.
