When guilt shows up after you say no

God sees loneliness and places people in family.

Psalm 68:6

When guilt shows up after you say no. You can look completely fine on the outside while this is doing a number on you inside. The danger is not that the feeling showed up. Watch what you allow that feeling to authorize in your behavior. Your family story matters, but it is not sovereign over what comes next. Jesus Christ can interrupt what has traveled through generations. Faithfulness does not require control over what happens next. Stay aligned with Jesus Christ while the result is still unfolding.

What part of this situation have you mistaken for a final definition? What becomes possible when the verdict belongs to Jesus Christ instead?

Lord Jesus, do not let yesterday's reflex govern today's response. Make my thinking clear and my emotions steady enough to follow You faithfully. Amen.
