When the story has an unfinished sentence

1 Peter 1:3

Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead, believers have a living hope.

When the story has an unfinished sentence. There is usually more happening here than the obvious problem. There is a difference between acknowledging reality and surrendering your identity to it. One is wisdom. The other is captivity. Biblical hope is not pretending everything will turn out the way you pictured. It is confidence that Jesus Christ is still Lord and resurrection is real. Bring the real problem to Jesus Christ, not the polished version. He already knows what is underneath.

What story are you attaching to this situation that Jesus Christ never said about you?

Jesus, I do not want an old pattern making today's decision for me. Renew my mind, steady my emotions, and lead me in truth. You are Lord here too. Amen.
