When you answer because you feel guilty
Guarding your heart is wisdom, not cruelty.
Proverbs 4:23
When you answer because you feel guilty. Nobody puts that on a vision board, but people live it every day. Catch the conclusion forming underneath your first reaction. Truth needs a moment to speak before habit takes the microphone. Limits can be loving even when another person dislikes them. Jesus Christ never modeled unlimited access to every demand. A dramatic feeling is not required for a faithful response. Choose what is true even if the old feeling is still present.
When you ask for advice, what answer are you secretly hoping to receive? Where might Scripture disagree with the response you prefer?
Lord, reveal where my interpretation has gone beyond what is true. Make me obedient in my responsibility and surrendered about the outcome. Amen.
