When you are afraid history will repeat itself

When fear comes, choose to trust God.

Psalm 56:3

When you are afraid history will repeat itself. This is the kind of moment that can expose what has really been running underneath. The part you cannot control may be the part making the most noise. You can still choose what receives your agreement and what you place in Christ's hands. The loudest outcome in your mind is not automatically the most truthful one. You can prepare wisely without treating fear as a prophet. Handle the part Jesus Christ has placed in your hands. Leave the outcome where it belongs: in God's hands.

What do you usually do first when this pressure shows up? What would faithfulness choose in its place?

Jesus Christ, I refuse to let a familiar pattern become my automatic answer again. Lead me in truth even if the old reaction still feels more natural. Amen.
