When you are underpaid and afraid to leave

Colossians 3:23

Work wholeheartedly as for the Lord, not merely for human approval.

When you are underpaid and afraid to leave. That sounds small until it is your Tuesday morning. You do not have to deny what is happening. Christianity is not pretending. The question is whether the circumstance gets to become lord over the meaning of your life. Work matters, but it is a place of stewardship, not your source of identity. Jesus Christ is Lord in the office, the unemployment line, and the next chapter. You are allowed to slow down long enough to choose obedience instead of repetition.

What part of this situation belongs to you, and what part are you trying to carry for God?

Lord Jesus Christ, I bring You the part I can explain and the part I cannot. Keep me from reacting out of fear, shame, pride, or loneliness. Teach me to move with You. Amen.
