When you are waiting on a doctor's call

When body and heart fail, God remains the strength of your heart.

Psalm 73:26

When you are waiting on a doctor's call. That sounds small until it is your Tuesday morning. Naming what is happening is not the same as letting it define you. What is happening can be acknowledged without becoming the ruler of your identity. Health deserves attention without becoming the measure of your worth. Steward your body under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Create enough space to hear truth before habit speaks. A deliberate response can interrupt what has repeated for years.

Where are you carrying a responsibility God did not assign to you? What can you entrust to Jesus Christ after you have been faithful with your part?

Jesus, I stop treating control as if it were the same thing as faithfulness. Give me courage to be faithful without demanding certainty. Amen.
