When you are waiting on money someone owes you. There is usually more happening here than the obvious problem. Reality can be accepted without becoming your identity. What happened can inform your story without becoming your name. Having more does not make you more valuable, and having less does not make you less loved. Your security cannot finally rest in a balance that changes. The honest version belongs in prayer. Nothing beneath the surface is hidden from Him.

What interpretation are you carrying that goes beyond what actually happened? How does that story compare with what Christ says is true?

Jesus Christ, I bring You the pattern that keeps trying to decide before I do. Teach me a different response and give me courage to practice it today. Amen.
