When you cannot stop rehearsing the conversation. There is usually more happening here than the obvious problem. Acknowledging reality and letting it define you are not the same thing. Let truth describe the circumstance without allowing it to define your worth. Fear often presents imagination as if it were revelation. Let Christ, not fear, have authority over what you believe about what comes next. Bring Jesus Christ the version you are actually living, not the version that sounds composed. He is not surprised by what the polished version leaves out.
