When you keep breaking promises to yourself

Not everything permissible should be allowed to master you.

1 Corinthians 6:12

When you keep breaking promises to yourself. This is the kind of moment that can expose what has really been running underneath. Much of this may be outside your control. Stay responsible for your response without pretending you are responsible for everything. A habit becomes dangerous when it quietly starts deciding for you. Freedom in Jesus Christ includes learning to say no to appetites that have learned to command you. Do the next thing that faithfulness requires. Faithfulness has a boundary; let God remain God beyond it.

What response feels automatic in this situation? How could you answer this moment from truth rather than habit?

Jesus Christ, I bring You the whole situation instead of only the part I can organize. Give me a clear response that reflects Your truth rather than my panic. Amen.
