When your family does not understand your faith
Psalm 68:6
God sees loneliness and places people in family.
When your family does not understand your faith. This is the kind of moment that can expose what has really been running underneath. You may not control the other person, the timing, the number, the diagnosis, or the outcome. You do control what you agree with and what you bring to Jesus Christ. Family history explains some things, but it does not get to prophesy your future. Jesus Christ can interrupt what has repeated for generations. Do the next faithful thing, then stop trying to carry the part that belongs to God.
Which reaction feels automatic here, and what would obedience look like instead?
Jesus, I do not want an old pattern making today's decision for me. Renew my mind, steady my emotions, and lead me in truth. You are Lord here too. Amen.
