How to Excavate the Root Causes Behind Your Emotional Reactions
What do you do when you're angry?
Most people react. Some people respond. But archaeologists? They excavate.
They dig deeper. They ask different questions. They understand that what you see on the
surface is never the whole story.
Soul esteem has everything to do with becoming an archaeologist of your own heart.
When you feel betrayed, the archaeologist asks: "What pattern am I seeing here?" When
anxiety hits, the archaeologist wonders: "Where have I felt this before?" When
depression creeps in, the archaeologist investigates: "What's the origin story of this
feeling?"
We hear that phrase all the time: "Ignorance is bliss."
But archaeologists know better. There's a true cost to leaving things buried.
The thing most people are searching for—that sense of belonging, that feeling that "if I
just had enough of this or that"—it's not on the surface. It's buried deep.
We were hardwired to worship. Jesus Christ is the lover of our soul. We only find true
fulfillment in Him.
But you have to dig to find that truth.
If you're a nonbeliever reading this, you're already doing archaeological work. You're
here, digging through ideas, searching for something real. These words are Holy Spirit-
led, and He's the master archaeologist.
If you're a believer, you know the treasure you've found. But there's always more
excavation to do.
Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. No man comes to a king unless he
summons them.
If you're feeling that tugging on your heart right now, that's your summons.
"Lord, come into my heart. Show me who you are. Open my eyes to see and feel and
hear this man they say is Jesus Christ, the Son of God."
The excavation starts with one question: What are you really searching for?
