The Barometer of Acceptance

By Jackie Overstreet September 20, 2025

Why what you tolerate reveals your healing—and how Jesus Christ resets your standard

Healing sneaks up on you. One day you wake up and wonder why you ever wanted what once felt essential.

Settling is just part of life.

No, it’s not.

I’ve been in rooms full of people and never felt lonelier. Surrounded, but unseen. And the truth is, much of that came down to what I allowed myself to accept. What I tolerated in the name of keeping peace, when in reality, it was costing mine.

The world says: “Understand others, even when they can’t understand you.” But Jesus Christ says your value isn’t negotiable. When you measure yourself by selfish standards—where your needs are always on the back burner—you’re trading truth for survival.

The barometer of acceptance is simple: when your head hits the pillow, do you rest in peace or rehearse frustration? That’s where healing starts. It’s less about what others demand and more about what Jesus Christ says you deserve—peace, freedom, wholeness.

So here’s the gut-check: if you were 99 looking back, would you be proud of what you’re tolerating right now?

If this challenged you, share it with someone still confusing survival for healing.

Healing isn’t a finish line—it’s a daily reset. Subscribe if you’re ready for more reminders to keep raising your standard in Christ.
