The Cost of Uncomfortable Obedience
By Jackie Overstreet • November 4, 2025

Learning to trust God when your faith feels like sandpaper against your comfort.
Obedience doesn’t always feel holy.
Sometimes, it feels like standing in the middle of a storm holding nothing but a whisper: “Keep walking.”
We talk about faith like it’s a gentle word. But the truth? Faith cuts through comfort.
Because trusting God doesn’t just require belief. It requires retraining the reflex to run.
Most people don’t realize that distractions rarely arrive waving red flags — they show up with soft smiles and justifications that sound reasonable.
They show up as invitations to delay.
As conversations that soothe but don’t heal.
As comfort that slowly numbs conviction.
That’s the genius of the enemy.
He doesn’t need to destroy you — he just needs to distract you long enough that you forget you were called to move.
Uncomfortable obedience is what brings you back. It’s saying,
“Even here, even in this, I’ll keep going.”
Because obedience doesn’t mean understanding the plan; it means trusting the Planner.
He doesn’t show you the whole picture — not because He’s hiding it, but because you’d try to edit it.
~If He really loved me, He’d make this easier.~
No, love doesn’t always make it easier. It makes it worth it.
Every act of uncomfortable obedience dismantles another lie that comfort once built.
It reminds you that you’re not behind — you’re being refined.
It reminds you that God’s timing isn’t slow, it’s surgical.
You won’t always like how it feels, but you’ll love what it builds.
Focus Point:
Discomfort isn’t punishment — it’s preparation for what peace will require of you.
If this stirred something in you, share it with someone who’s been mistaking distraction for direction. Maybe it’s their reminder that obedience is the doorway to peace.
— With love and grit, Jackie.
