The Happy Ending Myth

Why letting go and letting Jesus Christ work is more powerful than interference
As a child, I’d hear my mother say: “You’re not God.”
At the time, it felt harsh. Why say that? Weren’t people just trying to help?
Step in. Fix it. Make it better.
But sometimes “help” is interference.
Hollywood has trained us to expect closure, to crave the happy ending. Life doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes it’s “to be continued.” And in those moments, the hardest, holiest choice is to let go.
Scripture reminds us: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8). God doesn’t need our Band-Aids. He’s not asking for our backup scripts. He’s asking for trust.
The most powerful thing you can do for someone is not step in—it’s pray. To release them into the hands of the One who knows what He’s doing. His will is always done on earth as it is in heaven.
So, what if the “happy ending” you’re waiting for isn’t the ending at all, but the setup for God’s bigger story?
Life rarely ties itself with a bow. If you want more raw, unfinished but God-centered truths like this, subscribe and let’s wrestle with them together.
