How to Reposition Your Mind Like Snapping a Bone Back Into Place
I woke this morning praying, "God, you are my sun and my shield. You will give grace and
glory. No good thing will you withhold from those who walk uprightly." (Psalm 84:11)
In the morning, I wake up and reposition my thought process, immediately reaffirming
the Lord's covering and His promises to us as followers of the one and only truly living
God—Jesus Christ.
I learned long ago the importance of being Christ-centered, repositioning my mind like a
person who's done something to their body, and they're snapping it back into place.
Faith in Christ is not a feeling. It's action.
There are so many times you just don't feel like it, but God is a loving Father. He never
forces us to do anything. One of the most beautiful things about this relationship with
Christ is that it's the most real relationship you'll ever have because you don't have to
pretend.
You just come to Him in raw fashion because He already knows.
The most beautiful thing is that He does know who we truly are. He's the discerner of the
heart. "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing to the division of soul and of spirit." (Hebrews 4:12)
Knowing that someone knows you so deeply and so intimately is mind-blowing, but
comforting all at the same time.
He tells us to "cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
Every day, waking up and making the choice to choose Him—isn't that what love really is
all about? Choice. Because if you don't have a choice, then what is it?
I choose to love Him. I choose to serve Him. I choose to cast my cares on Him because I
believe that despite what I may see, He's working things out on my behalf. Even if there
are challenges; all of it leads to the divine destination He has planned for my life.
Knowing all this, what do I have to fear?
"Fear not" appears in the Bible 365 times—one for every day of the year. Such comfort in
knowing that I don't have to be afraid and that "perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18)
I believe casting out fear means living without fear of retaliation, knowing that I don't
have to be perfect because no man ever was perfect, but I serve a Savior who is.
What would change if you repositioned your mind every morning like snapping a bone
back into place?
