The Replay

How to Stop Replaying Hurt and Start Walking in Healing Through Forgiveness

Today, we're going to forgive and release everyone who's ever done anything to us.

I know it feels resistant even to think of doing this.

But here's what you need to understand: whatever happened, it was only meant to happen once.

Each time you replay it in your mind, it's happening to you all over again.

You're hitting replay.

True healing starts when forgiveness begins.

We serve a loving Father who sees and knows everything and will deal with whatever has been ailing you at the proper time.

Your focus should not be on whether or not those who hurt you get theirs.

It's on you to do what God has commanded us to do, and that's to forgive.

Sometimes the only way to heal from that thing that hurt you is to release it.

The replay button is the most dangerous button in your mind.

Peace comes from forgiving and giving it over to God.

It's not some deep, long, drawn-out prayer.

It's just telling Him that you're tired of carrying it.

"God, I forgive every person that's hurt me, and I'm putting this in Your hands."

When you put things in God's hands, don't start digging in His pockets.

When you give it to God, literally give it to God and go to sleep.

I used to get upset when people would say God is teaching us a lesson through all these things.

I was like, "OK God, I've learned a whole lot of lessons.

Can You please help me understand where this is going?"

Then I began to look back on some of the prayers I had prayed—some of those prayers where I said I had big dreams and ideas.

 I had an aha moment.

In order for me to be able to do those things, I'm going to have to have trust and faith beyond anything I could even ask or think.

We ask for big things, yet as a loving Father, He's preparing us for them.

I began to embrace struggles as calisthenics.

To do the things He had called me to do meant I needed to be fearless and bold.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, never hit replay on His betrayals.

He forgave from the cross.

Have you forgiven those who hurt you, or are you still hitting replay?
