The Strength of a Generous Heart
By Jackie Overstreet • December 21, 2025

Why giving is still holy, when guided by soul esteem and discernment in Jesus Christ
There is a quiet strength in people who give freely. The kind of strength that notices others, anticipates needs, and shows up with sincerity. If you are someone with a generous heart, that is not a flaw to correct, it is a gift to steward.
The challenge is not generosity itself. The challenge is learning how to give without abandoning yourself in the process.
Soul esteem teaches us that giving is healthiest when it flows from peace, not pressure. From clarity, not compulsion. Jesus Christ modeled this perfectly. He gave endlessly, yet He withdrew often. He loved deeply, yet He never allowed Himself to be manipulated or pulled off mission.
A generous heart does not need to become guarded or hardened. It needs discernment. Discernment is what helps you recognize the difference between mutual care and one sided depletion. It allows you to give with joy, not resentment, and to pause without guilt.
When your giving is rooted in Christ, it becomes purposeful. You begin to sense when to pour out and when to preserve. You understand that not every request is an assignment, and not every open door is yours to walk through.
Healthy generosity feels steady. It feels free. It feels aligned.
If you have ever wondered whether your kindness is costing you too much, this is your reminder. You can remain open hearted and still be wise. You can love fully and still honor the boundaries that protect your peace.
That balance is not selfish. It is spiritual maturity.
