The Weight of Transparency

Installment 2 of 4 | The Truth Detox Series
Welcome back to The Truth Detox. In the last letter, we talked about honesty, the cost of telling the truth in a world addicted to pretending. But what happens after you start living that truth? You realize honesty has a twin. Her name is transparency. And she’s heavier than she looks.
Transparency isn’t about spilling everything. It’s about no longer hiding anything. That’s what makes it sacred. When you’ve spent years shape-shifting to make other people comfortable, the first time you show up as yourself feels like standing under a spotlight. Your own light exposes you, even to you.
It’s strange how being open can feel unsafe when you’ve been conditioned to keep the peace. You start editing your emotions, trimming your thoughts, softening your tone, all in the name of not seeming “too much.” But here’s the irony: your peace can’t breathe in a lie.
Transparency is soul cardio. It stretches you, tests your endurance, and builds your inner stamina. It’s not for show. It’s for strength.
Some people will misunderstand it. They’ll call it oversharing when it’s actually overflow. They’ll call it pride when it’s actually healing. Don’t let that shake you. When you choose to be transparent, you’re giving others permission to stop pretending too.
So here’s a thought: maybe transparency isn’t exposure, maybe it’s evangelism. The quiet kind that says, Look what God is still doing in me.
That’s Soul Esteem.
That’s freedom.
