The Weight of Waiting

By Jackie Overstreet November 10, 2025

When God delays what feels due, He’s developing what can last.

This reflection is the final part of the “Good → Pain → Patience” trilogy, a soul excavation through what we call good, how we grow through pain, and what we learn through patience.

Waiting has a sound.

It’s quiet, but it’s not empty.

It’s the in-between where dreams and doubts whisper in the same tone.

You start strong, full of faith, full of fire.

Then time stretches, and silence grows heavy.

You wonder if maybe you misheard Him.

Maybe you moved too soon.

Maybe you’re not ready after all.

But waiting isn’t wasted.

It’s where God does His finest work, underground.

Roots don’t grow in daylight.

They deepen in darkness.

And though no one claps for a root, it’s the reason a tree survives the storm.

~We call it delay, but Heaven calls it development.~

We think waiting is about timing.

But it’s really about transformation.

God isn’t withholding your promise; He’s protecting it.

Because sometimes the very thing we’re praying for can crush us if we get it too soon.

You can’t fast-forward faith.

It grows in real time.

So if it feels like God is late, breathe.

He’s not ignoring you; He’s fortifying you.

And when the thing you prayed for finally comes, you’ll recognize it, not run from it.

You’ll handle it with grace instead of fear, because you grew into it while you waited.

Focus Point:

The delay isn’t denial; it’s divine development.

If someone you love feels like God’s gone quiet, share this with them. Sometimes the reminder that silence still speaks is the loudest comfort of all. ~ Stay encouraged.

Sincerely, Jackie
