When Giving Feels Natural
By Jackie Overstreet • December 22, 2025

A quiet reflection on generosity, soul esteem, and learning the rhythm Jesus Christ modeled
Some people give the way others breathe. There is no agenda in it. No scoreboard. It is simply how they move through the world.
If that sounds like you, I want you to hear this clearly. There is nothing broken about your heart.
What changes as we grow is not the instinct to give, but the wisdom that guides it. Over time, you begin to notice that giving has seasons. There are moments when it flows easily and moments when it needs to rest. Both are sacred.
Jesus Christ lived this rhythm. He fed crowds, healed strangers, and then slipped away quietly to be alone. No announcement. No explanation. Just obedience to what His soul needed in that moment.
Soul esteem is learning that same rhythm for yourself.
It is understanding that generosity does not mean endless availability. It means presence when you are called, and peace when you are not. It means trusting that saying no to one thing makes room for the right thing.
When your giving is led by discernment instead of urgency, it feels clean. There is no aftertaste of regret. No quiet resentment. Just a calm knowing that you did what you were meant to do.
You do not have to become less kind to become more whole.
You simply learn when to extend your hands, and when to rest them. ~Jackie
