Why a Gentle Answer Turns Away Wrath But a Harsh Word Stirs Up Anger

Proverbs 15:1 says a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Gentleness isn't weakness. It's strategy. Jesus Christ didn't respond to every accusation. He didn't match hostility with hostility. He knew gentle answers defuse what harsh words ignite.

You can be right and still escalate. Or you can be gentle and de-escalate. Kingdom living means controlling your response even when the other person lost control of theirs. A gentle answer doesn't mean you're backing down. It means you're wise enough to turn away wrath instead of multiplying it. Harsh words feel satisfying for a moment. Gentle answers preserve relationships for a lifetime. Choose gentle. It's not surrender. It's strength under control.

Are you stirring up anger with harsh words, or deflecting wrath with the gentle answers Jesus Christ modeled?
