Why Leaning on Your Own Understanding Is the Fastest Way to Get Lost

Proverbs 3:5-6 says trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Trust and lean can't coexist. One cancels the other. You're either trusting Jesus Christ or trusting yourself. There's no middle ground.

Leaning on your understanding feels safe until it leads you off a cliff. Your perspective is limited. His isn't. Kingdom living means acknowledging Him in every decision, every turn, every fork in the road. Not just the big ones. All of them. When you do, He straightens what looks crooked. He clears what looks blocked. Stop leaning on what you think you know. Start trusting the One who actually does.

What are you leaning on in your own understanding instead of trusting Jesus Christ to straighten the path?
